“I am a Malaysian Hikikomori, and this is my story” is an online article that came about during the lockdown periods in the year 2020 that tells a story of an extreme introvert with her social discrimination and how she sees people follow society’s made-up standards where ones have to act a certain way to be accepted. It was only when the Covid-19 pandemic hit with its lockdowns, that she felt for the first time in life as if she was alive and normal, at least to the eyes of society, as she was living fully as before while others were struggling to cope for simply being at home. Introverse was born out of this social context, where the rights in

Text description provided by the architects. This project involves creating an extension of an artist studio for a famous Moroccan painter Mr. Abdelkebbir Rabbi’. The project takes place in the old colonial center of Casablanca, close to the city’s biggest public park and the splendid “sacré coeur” church. Mr. Rabi’ used to work with bi-chromatic drawing or painting, he trades between figurative and abstract representation. As all his work revolves around shadows and light, his only request was about natural light, and natural materials with a neutral atmosphere that will don’t disturb him at work.

See How a Leafy and Lush Home Got Infused With Old World Charm | Architectural Digest

When it came to her own family’s lush and leafy oasis in Venice, Los Angeles–based designer Kate Driver started off, surprisingly, by abandoning her aesthetic roots. In September 2016, she and her husband spontaneously abandoned their renting life—and Driver’s long-held dream of owning an “old house with character,” not unlike the Georgian-style homes of her native Atlanta—to dive head-first into owning a new-build home with no real architectural soul to speak of.

“But when we walked through, it felt like no place we had ever been before, like a tropical wonderland,” Driver, the founder of the interior design studio West Haddon Hall, says of the home’s soaring windows and proliferation of palms. “So that night we felt really inspired. We stayed up until 3 am googling ‘how to buy a house’ and put in an offer the next day.”

In the eyes of a lesser visionary, the house’s grand

Tour A New York Apartment by Interior Designer Ariel Okin

When interior designer Ariel Okin kicks off each project, she begins with a creative brief meeting, as is typical of her profession. There, she sits down with her client for hours to ascertain what it is they want from their impending project. “We really dive into what they love about inspiration images that they [pulled]what they don’t love, [prospective] color palette, which textiles that we should be focusing on,” says Okin. In the kickoff meeting for a recent remodel on Riverside Drive, the aesthetics uncovered a challenge: a couple in which she, a fashion veteran, loves vibrant textiles and patterns whereas he, a connoisseur of the film industry, prefers a neutral palette—”nothing too busy.”

Despite their aesthetic differences, the couple shares a mutual respect for design. So Okin created a haven for maximalists and minimalists alike. That meant, “keeping the walls white and the majority of the palette creamy, neutral,
